Hey 👋 - Hello, there!!
I observe Adi watching Chris Fix on Youtube and I admire his interest in cars. He talks about the show, how Chris gets cars from others and fixes them, and sells them for a higher price.
He told me he would be interested in a similar thing when he grows up. I wasn't familiar with the show, but after doing some research, I found out that it's a reality show about fixing up cars.
There are many other videos on YouTube of people fixing up cars, but there are also videos of people creating new businesses, making art, and doing all sorts of creative work.
It's clear that the internet has created a new economy, where people can make a living by doing creative work.
That Also makes me wonder if the skill taught at schools might be enough to get a good job in the future. I am not so sure anymore. Schools are limited in their capacities to cater to all the kids individually.
So, the onus is now on parents to supplement their kids' education by teaching them skills that will help them in the future.
Some of the skills to consider teaching your kids to include:
1. Creativity- can be fostered through art, music, and writing
2. Critical thinking- developed through problem-solving activities and games
3. Communication- essential for collaboration and networking
4. Emotional intelligence- to be able to understand and manage emotions
5. Collaboration- to be able to share their knowledge for a greater purpose
6. Entrepreneurship- to be able to turn their creative ideas into businesses
All of these skills can be learned and developed through various activities and experiences. As parents, we should encourage our kids to participate in activities that will help them develop these attributes
If you want to read the article in detail to understand how important it is to prepare the kids for the creator economy see the link below.
Level Up For Your Kids
There is a lot of conversation happening around the internet that tells you the positives of making kids do the house chores.
Let's see what Calvin has to say about it:
I resonate with Calvin, many kids do not like to be told to do things around the house.
But instead, if they were made to feel part of the house by involving them in the tasks, it would give them responsibility.
How can we do this:
Involve them from the time they are very young- so that it becomes a part of their routine and they learn to take responsibility for their actions. Adi was always playing around with kitchen tools and he would help me in whatever possible way he could.
Encourage them with appreciation- Whenever they help you out with something make sure you appreciate their efforts. This will definitely motivate them to help more often.
Don't disturb them when they are playing or doing their work- There should be a time assigned for chores like before dinner setting up the table while cooking, or after eating to clean up.

Becoming Your Child's Best Friend
'Ma, do dogs also gets cold?'
'What should we eat when we gets cold?'
'Are breed and weed different things?'
What is poornima(full moon) and amavasya (no moon)
'Does America has a full moon after 15 days than in India?'
'Does the Sea level rise when it is hot?'
Adi keeps asking me questions like this anytime of the day.
There are two problems here:
1. I don't know the answers to all of them
2. I might be working at the time he asked and so I tell him to ask me later.
But he might forget to ask later and these questions are still hanging in the invisible air.
I asked him to quickly jot these questions down whenever he gets them and we will find a time sometimes every day to answer these, but mostly I will try to answer when he asks.
When kids ask questions they want the answer quickly but it's not possible to answer all these questions immediately. So this exercise of writing these questions is good, another best thing is we can look for the answers together.
There is a podcast I recommend if you have curious kids in your house. See the recommendation section below.
cheers, Priyanka

I am kind of particular how people talk to Adi.
No I can't control how others treat him but I make sure he knows that he deserves to be treated with respect.
People talk to kids very authoritatively, like it's a norm.
Are you particular about how others treat your kids?
