Education Next-Thirtieth Edition
Reading time: 9.20 min
Hey đź‘‹ - Hello, there!!
I am getting closer to the goal I set of meeting education disrupters. I met some amazing people this week and got to know their alternate learning journey.
Jason Kantor- Is a homeschooling coach for teens and young adults. He believes in providing an educational setting that focuses on the individual's needs and goals, rather than a traditional classroom environment. He also provides one-on-one coaching to help students reach their potential.
Toan Truong- He is a young self-learner who quit school a couple of years back and started to learn via online resources. He realized that a traditional school was not serving any purpose for him and he decided to go his own way. He made a presentation to convince his parents that school learning was not for him. He talks to educators and learners on Twitter and is a strong advocate for self-directed learning.
Nitu Mohanka- She is a mom of two kids. She is homeschooling her younger child who is interested in baking and prefers to explore new things at home, she doesn't prefer going to school. Her elder child is in school and he enjoys learning in school. Nitu is a strong advocate of fighting mental illness and she has been working to create awareness about the same. She believes in supporting her kid to learn and explore topics of their interests.
Each of these education disrupters has a unique story and is inspiring me to follow my dreams. I'm looking forward to meeting more people in the coming days who can share their stories. It has given me hope that there is an alternative form of schooling that can be used to empower learners of all ages. I am looking forward to meeting more amazing people in the coming weeks and months.
Every day is a learning experience that has made me more aware of how education needs to evolve. We are now on the cusp of an education revolution, which will create a better tomorrow for everyone
These people have inspired me to keep looking for more education disrupters and understand their stories. I am hoping to get more insights about alternate learning and how it can help in transforming the future of education.

We explored Mid journey this week.
It's a fun AI tool to play with a create movie-like images by describing the kind of image you need.
You can add different types of characters, props, background elements etc.
The user interface is quite simple but also powerful and you can quickly put together interesting scenes to share on social media.
You just need to type in the text describing the image you want and the tool will take care of the rest.
The results can be quite stunning and in some cases, it's almost indistinguishable from a real-life photograph!
It's an interesting way to explore different types of art and composition.
Mid Journey is a great way to express yourself and show off your creative side.
It can also be used as an educational tool, allowing students to explore the narrative structure and visual storytelling.
Some of the images we created included keywords like
a boy working on the laptop in space,
women standing in a space
a BMW drifting in an old town
Here is an example of an image we created
Conscious Bonding
Bonding over a missed routine
Adi has been planning to wake up early for cycling but we are just missing out on the motivation to get out of bed every morning. A couple of days back a similar incident happened and he was so disturbed that he didn't want to do anything.
I realized that many of us when we miss one part of the plan that we set for ourselves, our entire day is ruined and we feel so disheartened that we just want to give up.
That's why I thought of creating a system where everyday Adi had to complete something each day, so even if he misses out on one task he doesn't get demotivated and give up. How many times it has happened to us that we missed achieving a target and hence we lose interest in our goals and ambitions?
Of course it's important to stay on task, but there are times when it doesn't work out and we need to be able to move on without giving up.
Steps to revive the rest of the day
Step back and reassess the plan- We need to quickly see how much time we have and how we can replan our entire day to make sure we have a productive day.
Focus on the next task in line- When something doesn’t go as planned, it is easy to feel demotivated and give up on the rest of the tasks. To prevent this from happening, stop worrying about what has gone wrong and instead focus on what you can do next.
Be kind to yourself- Don’t beat yourself up for not achieving the task as planned. Instead, be gentle and encourage yourself to keep going.
Take a break - If you are feeling too overwhelmed or exhausted then take a break and come back refreshed to start fresh on what is left in your plan.
Try to find out what went wrong and whether there was something that could have been done differently - we clearly know that we have not been sleeping on time and hence it's very important to look at what is going wrong and how we can fix it.
Do some brainstorming and come up with alternative strategies- We planned to arrange everything before we go to sleep.
If a particular task was missed, try setting a new deadline for that task or breaking it down into smaller chunks so that it's easier to manage. - Sometimes we become over-ambitious and take on too much. In such cases, you can break the task into smaller components and set short deadlines for each part. we have postponed our waking up time by half an hour, then we can try to set a new target of waking up early and adjust the rest of our day accordingly.
Write a self-reflection- Reflecting on your day and writing about it can help you get clarity about what went wrong and also give you a deeper understanding of the situation.
