#0039: Best Homeschooling Advice Ever!
Education Next-Thirty ninth Edition

Hey !!👋
I met Katy a couple of weeks back, a mother who decided to pull her son out of school when he was 8 years old and start homeschooling him.
She knew that her son would have the advantage of having more freedom in his learning environment but also he wouldn’t have the social interaction that comes with attending school.
Katy had done her research well and was very clear in her mind that homeschooling was the best option for her son. Katy understood that learning was not a problem for her son, but rather for his school.
Katy's beliefs
If you show kids the way, they will figure out their own paths. She also said that understanding their interests and allowing them to explore those is the most important part of homeschooling.
She says kids when kids discover something themselves then true learning happens.
Tech can help in a big way but kids need guidance
Katy on online learning platforms
While the trend of online learning is increasing, companies don't understand that every kid doesn't have a supercomputer
They plan curriculums similar to courses for corporate
They don't focus on different attention spans or interests
How kids learn - here is what Katy had to stay
Kids need options
They learn by doing
Kids need the skills to use Youtube
Learning is a process
Teachers need to be the guide, they should help learners create a learning path
Katy says this generation is different
This generation is good at self-learning
They know more than us and we need to accept that
Katy's Advise to parents
Parents need to be prepared or they get confused and overwhelmed
Find a support system – it can be online or offline
Giving your child the freedom to explore is key
Don't set expectations for them to perform or excel, let them learn at their own pace
Most importantly help kids stay motivated and keep learning
Trust the process, it will work.
Katy's Final Thoughts
Homeschooling is a journey, and the best part of this is that no one has to do it alone. Each family should find what works for them and take advantage of the different resources available online or in their local community
Katy and her son are building a learning platform to make homeschooling easier for others.

Getting ready for Science Project
This week Adi has been busy searching for materials for his science project and that has not been easy.
You will mostly find him looking for wood pieces, glue, screws, and other tools that he needs to build his project.
Another challenge is finding the right video that has the fewest materials to buy and that is easy to follow.
Adi has been using Youtube quite a bit which helps him with the step by steps instructions on how to build his project.
I have just ordered a DC motor and a LED light, and guess what he is building?
Conscious Bonding
Bonding with kids over Healthy habits
All our life we woke up early for school but why do adults suffer to maintain these habits when they grow up?
It's easy to order your child to wake up to go to school early in the morning because they do not have any option.
However, it is important to teach the kids to take responsibility for their habits.
Start by teaching them to set an alarm which will help them develop a sense of self-discipline.
When they have a consistent pattern every day, they will learn to hold themselves accountable and be more responsible.
Sit down with them and discuss why it's important to maintain a good routine. Explain how it will help them in their studies, sports, and other activities.
Show them the positive effects of sticking to the same schedule every day such as improved concentration levels, better sleep quality, and increased productivity.
Encourage your kids to write down their goals for each day and work on them one by one. They can set small attainable goals and mark them off once they have accomplished them.
This will create a sense of achievement in the child’s mind and also motivate them to stick to their routine more often.
