Hey !!👋

This week lets read about:

  • The boy who completed his graduation in 9 years

  • Adi gets a Scholarship with The Socratic

  • Helping kids be self-aware

This 9-year-old has been in the news for being one of the youngest graduates

David Balogun attained his diploma from Reach Cyber Charter School in the state capital of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

David started his online classes during the pandemic and was able to get his High School diploma within 3 years.

Aspiring to pursue the field of astrophysics, David confided his desire to research black holes and supernovas.

“I had to get outside of the box. Playing pillow fights when you’re not supposed to, throwing the balls in the house,” his mother, Ronya, said. “He’s a 9-year-old with a brain that can understand and comprehend a lot of concepts beyond his years and sometimes beyond my understanding.”

Ronya revealed that they tested their son's aptitude in first grade and discovered he was excelling beyond the second-grade level in both math and English.

They didn't try to hold me back, but were always encouraging and believed in my abilities - "He can do this. He can do that," the nine-year-old enthused about his high school experience.

We are not sure if he would have had the same experience in a traditional school setting as he did when studying online.

But David's story is sure to be an inspiration to many and prove that age is only a number as far as education goes.

Moreover, his success strengthens the growing belief that one does not have to wait until their teen years or twenties to pursue higher education.

Conscious Bonding

Bonding with kids over Self-awareness

Why being self aware is important for kids

Self-awareness helps children understand and express their emotions, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, set goals for themselves, and make better decisions. It also increases empathy – an essential attribute needed to build strong relationships with others.

One way to foster self-awareness in children is by taking the time to listen to their feelings and help them process their emotions.

Letting kids know that it is okay to be sad, angry, or scared can help them express these feelings in a healthy way while building trust between you and your child.

Creating an environment of open communication is also important for helping children develop self-awareness.

Establishing boundaries and expectations for behavior can help kids understand the consequences of their actions.

Taking a few moments each day to practice self-reflection can also be beneficial, as it sets an example for positive self-awareness and helps establish a strong parent-child bond.
