You are invited to come and meet me and Adi
This week let's read about:
We met the Indian Roadschooler
Adi shows resilience
We are not alone
Hello,
We spent this week in Hyderabad. It all started when I messaged Mr Gangadhar the roadschooling dad of Amulya and Ananya and husband of free-spirited Ramya.
He helped me arrange my stay with amazing people Shweta and Raghav, parents of twin daughters who are learning in an alternate school, they picked us up from the station at 2.30 am at night.
We had a nonstop conversation about schooling, education, purposeful living, global issues, and so much more. They were more like family, the way they took care of every little thing.
The next day we went on a camp with Mr. Gangadhar and other families. It was nice to meet amazing families from all over Hyderabad and get to know their stories.
We went for a forest walk in the evening which was led by two unschooling kids who taught us a lot about the forest and nature. It was so inspiring to see kids taking charge of the group and leading it confidently.
We came back collecting wood for the campfire, As we were arranging for the campfire, there was a sudden storm and our tents were all drenched and we all had to take shelter in the nearby home.
The next day it was beautiful to look at the jungle after the rain and to witness the morning rays touching the green vegetation. We went rock climbing, and Adi was excited to experience the harness.
We accompanied Mr. Gangadhar to his home after the camp and got to finally meet the entire family, it was amazing to connect with our hearts on topics like education, learning, and life. I was inspired by everyone’s journey and how they juggle different roles.
It was interesting to see that many parents I met in Hyderabad wanted to learn about unschooling and how we are doing it. It was lovely to meet them, I came back with memories filled with love and joy.
It was like a dream come true to meet Mr. Gangadhar and learn so much about his life and living in a beautiful city like Hyderabad. It was an experience I will never forget and I am so grateful for the opportunity.
Don't worry, I didn't come without eating Hyderabadi Biryani.
We hope to come back soon on another forest adventure soon!
Learning With Adi
Adi tries Rock Climbing and Forest Walking
Adi Tried rock climbing for the first time and I was surprised that he was so confident, even though he had never done it before. He was able to make his way up the wall with ease and enjoyed every minute of it.
Adi was so happy running around in the forest, taking responsibility, and trying out new physical activities. He was interacting well with the other kids his age and he was becoming a lot more independent.
Why is it that kids are so different when they are outside the house, away from their parents? It's like they become more confident and independent in this type of environment. I guess it just goes to show that outdoor activities can really benefit a child - both physically and mentally.
We helped set up the tents and the campfire but there was a storm and the tents were all wet. Thankfully, we were able to find an indoor shelter where the kids could sleep and stay dry. We had a great time despite the inclement weather and it was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
As I watched him run around in the forest with a smile on his face, I couldn't help but feel proud of him for taking risks, pushing himself out of his comfort zone, and being so brave. He taught me that when it comes to personal growth, there's no better way than taking risks and trying something new.
Conscious Bonding
🌍 Embracing the Beauty of the Unknown 🌟
As I embark on this incredible journey with my adventurous 9-year-old son, I find myself reflecting on the conventional wisdom that has shaped our perception of safety and trust.
We have been conditioned to seek comfort in familiarity, to surround ourselves only with those we know and trust. However, our recent experiences have shattered these preconceived notions and revealed a beautiful truth: we are not alone.
In our quest for new discoveries and exciting encounters, we have ventured into unknown territories, both physically and emotionally. We have taken risks, leaving behind the safety of our comfort zones.
And in doing so, we have been richly rewarded by encountering kind souls who have guided us, supported us, and welcomed us into their lives.
We were helped by unknown boys on the Nagpur Highway when we ran out of petrol middle of the night. We found a family in Hyderabad who took care of us, picked us up from the station and dropped us back, and showed us around the city.
We have been embraced with open arms in each new place we visit, allowing us to share our stories and experiences.
Through this journey, I have come to understand that the beauty of life is found not in familiar surroundings but in trusting the unknown.
The beauty of the unknown lies in its capacity to bring out the best in people.
These experiences have taught us that, even in times of uncertainty, there is beauty to be found in the unknown. It is up to us to be brave enough to embrace it.
It is through these encounters that we have come to realize the incredible power of human connection. The world, though vast and diverse, is filled with people who are willing to extend a helping hand, share their stories, and offer a sense of belonging.
They may have started as strangers, but they quickly became friends, weaving themselves into the tapestry of our journey.
Through the eyes of my son, I have rediscovered the joy of curiosity and the excitement of embracing the unknown.
His youthful spirit, unburdened by the fears that often hold us back, has allowed us to open our hearts and minds to the endless possibilities that await us.
In this journey, we have learned to trust not only in ourselves but also in the goodness of others. We have discovered that vulnerability can be a source of strength, that taking a leap of faith can lead to extraordinary experiences, and that the unknown can hold untold treasures.
Let us embark on our own journeys, guided by the belief that we are not alone and that the world is filled with kindred spirits waiting to cross our paths.
May we continue to seek out the unfamiliar, cherish the moments of serendipity, and celebrate the shared humanity that binds us all together.
For it is in these experiences that we truly come alive, reminding ourselves that our journey through life is meant to be an adventure, an exploration of the extraordinary.
Embrace the unknown, and let it embrace you back.
