Future of Living

Last week Mira and Magnus were greeted by a magical sight as they opened their eyes to a snowy wonderland.

The world outside had transformed overnight into a soft, white canvas, and the sheer surprise of seeing snow everywhere filled them with contagious excitement.

This spontaneous encounter with nature became an unplanned lesson, a natural way for them to experience and learn.

The joy of witnessing the first snowfall sparked their curiosity and provided an unscripted classroom where they could explore, touch, and marvel at the beauty of the season.

In these unstructured moments, the world becomes a teacher, and the lessons are not just about snowflakes but also about the spontaneity and wonder that life brings.

Exploration and education, while interconnected, represent distinct approaches to acquiring knowledge and understanding.

According to The Alliance for Self-Directed Education, ”Explore" comes from the Latin explorare, "investigate, search out, examine, explore."

In the case of explorare, the horse seeks out its water, utilizing directions or not, and thereby learns where water is and how to find it again.

Future of Learning

A common thread among many of the successful individuals we admire is their unwavering habit of reading.

Whether it's business magnates, thought leaders, or creative minds, the habit of reading serves as a cornerstone for their success.

Reading not only fuels our intellectual curiosity but also cultivates a mindset of lifelong learning, a key attribute that often distinguishes high achievers.

Elon Musk developed a strong affinity for reading during his teenage years, a passion that significantly contributed to shaping him into the accomplished engineer he is today.

In particular, Musk was drawn to books such as "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress," Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, and "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy," each playing a pivotal role in influencing his intellectual development.

"The lesson I drew from the works of Isaac Asimov, science fiction writer, is you should try to take the set of actions that are likely to prolong civilization, minimize the probability of a dark age and reduce the length of a dark age if there is one."

Building Skills

You weren’t born to work 40 hours a week doing something you hate, numb your mind with endless scrolling, and wake up one day wondering where the time went.

Dan Koe

Dan Koe's quote resonates profoundly with the evolving perspective on work and life.

The notion that individuals aren't destined to spend 40 hours a week on tasks they detest reflects a growing awareness of the importance of purpose and fulfilment.

Today, we have many options to break free from the conventional work mould.

The internet serves as an expansive platform for learning, enabling individuals to acquire skills that contribute to financial stability and offer the freedom to craft a meaningful and fulfilling life.

This shift in mindset celebrates the autonomy to explore passions, develop valuable skills, and forge unconventional paths to success.

This is an era where individuals can leverage the vast resources available online to redefine their relationship with work, fostering a sense of purpose and satisfaction that transcends the limitations of traditional employment.

The difference between you and what you want is skill.

Youth Inspiration

Gitanjali Rao

In 2016, Gitanjali Rao was confronted with the harsh reality of the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, and her response was nothing short of remarkable.

Gitanjali Rao

At the tender age of 13, she was deeply disturbed by the idea that a fundamental necessity like clean water could be compromised in a community. Gitanjali, driven by empathy and a desire for positive change, embarked on a mission to address the crisis.

In a remarkably short three-and-a-half months, Gitanjali conceptualized and developed a groundbreaking solution—a portable device named Tethys, inspired by the Greek goddess of fresh water.

Tethys is designed to detect lead levels in water swiftly and at a lower cost than existing methods.

We have an opportunity for Gen Z students to approach modern issues more critically and creatively. I believe that Gen Z students can identify and tackle problems differently from previous generations. We are growing up in an era where massive, worldwide problems like climate change are occurring in real-time.
