Hello All,

Adi and I made a deliberate decision to leave traditional school in 2020.

Our journey involved exploring various alternatives until we found our footing and ultimately chose to pursue a different path.

In an effort to share expert opinions, research, and successful personal journeys, I created Education Next.

The platform explores alternative learning paths, the importance of self-learning, and much more, with the goal of providing parents and students with valuable insights.

Adi takes responsibility for his learning by exploring topics that interest him online, creating projects, and putting together his knowledge in a blog.

Mentoring him in this process, I guide him as he grows and develops crucial skills that will benefit him in various aspects of life.

Skills Kids Need To Be Successful

The model of "learn at school" and "do at work" is no longer sustainable, and constant reskilling and lifelong learning will be a way of life at work.

- World Economic Forum

It is worth pondering whether teaching traditional subjects like history, science, and math in the same way is still relevant, given technological advancements and changing world needs.

There may be other options than waiting for schools to adapt to current times, especially when children today have access to technology and can understand complex concepts.

Instead of solely focusing on classroom learning, we should guide children towards developing skills that foster lifelong learning and a continued curiosity about the world.

As a parent, I firmly believe in helping children acquire skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

According to Forbes, ten skills will be needed to be future-ready

  1. Creativity

  2. Emotional intelligence (EQ)

  3. Analytical (critical) thinking

  4. Active learning with a growth mindset

  5. Judgment and decision-making

  6. Interpersonal communication skills

  7. Leadership skills

  8. Diversity and cultural intelligence

  9. Technology skills

  10. Embracing change

The Batman Effect

The Batman effect refers to performing better on challenging tasks when you imagine yourself as a powerful, competent character, such as a superhero.

Benefits of the Batman Effect:

  • Improved Persistence: Children are likelier to stick with challenging tasks and persevere through difficulties when they imagine themselves as intense and persistent characters.

  • Enhanced Focus: By immersing themselves in the role of a superhero, children may experience increased concentration and reduced distractions.

  • Greater Confidence: Embodying a confident hero can boost children's self-belief, enabling them to tackle challenges with increased confidence.

  • Improved Executive Function Skills: Studies suggest the Batman effect can positively impact children's planning, decision-making, and self-regulation skills.
