#177: They will not replace "you"

Education Next- Hundred and seventy seventh Edition

Welcome to the 177th edition of this newsletter.

As we navigate these fast-evolving times,

I want to pause and say: Stop blaming yourself for feeling like you're staying behind.

Instead, let's congratulate ourselves for showing up—for reading, learning, and sharing positively with one another.

It's impossible to know everything, and that's okay.

What matters is making the attempt, day after day.

You're doing that right now, and that's worth celebrating.

Most young people are not scared of the tech;

they're growing up with it as a natural part of their world.

They'll learn on the go, adapting fluidly to tools that once seemed daunting to us.

Recently, my son showed just how easy it is to turn an idea into a product these days.

With AI tools capable of handling design, coding, testing—almost everything—the barriers to creation have crumbled.

This isn't a threat; it's an invitation to experiment and build without limits.

AI companions in our daily life

Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft's AI CEO, recently shared a compelling vision of AI companions as a natural extension of our daily lives.

He envisions them not as replacements for human connections, but as intuitive tools that fit effortlessly into our digital ecosystems:

How do AI companions fit into this ecosystem in my life?”

For Suleyman, AI companions are not replacements for human connections but rather supplementary tools for quick clarity and small queries.

Accenture's recent layoffs of over 11,000 employees worldwide in just three months.

These cuts, part of an $865 million AI-focused restructuring, underscore the relentless march of technology.

The company has doubled its AI and data professionals to 77,000 from 40,000 just two years ago, with generative AI bookings surging to $5.1 billion last year.

CEO Julie Sweet has emphasized that while reskilling is key, it's not viable for everyone—leading to tough decisions for those who can't adapt quickly.

This news might feel daunting, but it carries valuable lessons we can all learn from to thrive, not just survive.

Young or not, we're all learning on the go.

Pat yourself on the back for reading this, for reflecting, for trying.

That's the real superpower in an AI world.

Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey.

Priyanka
